The sprawling modern resort in west Oxfordshire caters for iron-pumpers, niblick-swingers and the nuptial trade, as well as offering contemporary brasserie cooking in a destination restaurant that has acquired a dedicated local following. Tables on a lakeside terrace embrace the sunnier months, and the core attraction is a menu of dependable modern classic dishes. Opening with beetroot- and gin-cured salmon dressed in horseradish crème fraîche, you might go on to Gressingham duck breast with honey-roast plums, or sirloin on the bone, its chips done in garlic, rosemary and parmesan. For afters, there's lemon posset and blueberry compôte, or sticky toffee with mascarpone ice cream.
