Rebooted Tudor inn with comforting brasserie classics

We often comment on Tudor inns carefully converted to preserve their original character, but the epithet 'crazy' is the clue that a different approach, to put it mildly, has been adopted here. Pink cushioned walls, a leopard-print carpet, big steel mirrors and a kind of herringbone overhead wine store set the scene for what's on offer in the English arm of the operation. The substantial list of contemporary brasserie food majors in comfort-oriented classics, such as scallops and black pudding with pea purée, followed by beef, ale and mushroom pie with champ potatoes. End with apple tart Tatin with vanilla ice cream.
