Close to the M4 between Swindon and Oxford, this smart hotel occupies an enviable spot on the edge of the Cotswolds. Surrounded by nine acres of well- maintained grounds, there are plenty of options when it comes to enjoying a drink, whether it’s the lounge bar or patio. The contemporary Magnolia Brasserie is the more informal of the hotel’s two restaurants and the room is dominated by the open kitchen with a wood-burning stove. Celeriac and apple cream soup might be followed by sea bass, crushed artichokes, mussels and baby gem. End with vanilla pannacotta, meringue and raspberry sorbet.
