The Hopping Hare is a 21st-century venue: the bar offers a stylish place to meet, while the restaurant is informal and atmospheric. The culinary output changes with the seasons, with chef’s specials every day, and has been described as ‘modern British with a playful twist’. Typical starters might be foie gras and ham hock terrine with pickled vegetables, or seared scallops with Jerusalem artichoke, flavoured with soy and truffle. Main courses might include pan-fried Gressingham duck breast with beetroot, black carrot and parsnip, or cumin-dusted cod, followed by a dessert of lemon tart, meringue, raspberries and basil or peanut butter delice with banana and salted caramel.
