This place presents a sober face to the world, but inside, a contemporary boutique makeover displays vibrant shades of lilac and blue, sensuous fabrics and attractive artwork in the funky bar and conservatory bistro. Informal, friendly service feeds into the easy-going vibe, while please-all menus are driven by quality ingredients, with simple pubby classics such as fish and chips or steaks thrown into the mix. Otherwise, ham hock terrine with black pudding beignet and mustard mayonnaise might precede a piggy trio of pork fillet, cheek and belly with chive mash and carrots, or sea bream with ratatouille and salsa verde.
