Seamlessly grafted into the ancient city walls of medieval York, the Lamb & Lion pleases all comers, young and old, locals and visitors. The undisputed classic of the kitchen is the chef’s pie of the day served with green beans and bacon, chunky chips and real ale gravy. Elsewhere, things get more cosmopolitan, with dishes like Cawood heritage tomato risotto topped with Lowna Dairy goats’ cheese bon bons and finished with white truffle oil; and pan-fried Atlantic stone bass, celeriac purée, samphire and East Coast mussel bisque sauce. To finish, there's pannacotta with chille Yorkshire rhurbarb, crème patissière and crumble.
