Old inn with a brasserie-style menu

Private dining
Wines by the glass
Wheelchair access

This hotel in the heart of the town was a posting inn in the first half of the 19th century, and its Georgian façade and spacious interiors are in fine fettle today. The same brasserie-style menu is up for grabs in the Foxhunter Bar or Oak Room restaurant, with lunchtime sandwiches and steaks cooked on the grill. Why not try a fresh crab and mango salad or Tuscan bean and pasta soup to start, followed by rack of lamb - pink and tender - served with a little pan of shepherd's pie, or tiger prawns piri-piri style. Finish with a simple chocolate pot with pistachios and vanilla ice cream.
