With its high ceilings, oak panels and colonial pictures, the grand former bank building has the feel of a Raj-era gentlemen's club, which is a perfect fit for this posh Indian. Taking classic, Moghul-inspired North Indian dishes as its starting point, the kitchen throws creative touches into the mix to conjure scintillating, palate-tingling flavours. Leading the charge are the likes of ajwaini macchi - monkfish marinated with ginger, yogurt, carom seeds and turmeric - followed by a consummate version of Allepey fish curry, delivering perfectly-timed kingfish in creamy coconut and ginger sauce, or a feisty chicken tikka in smoked tomato and garlic sauce.
