The Tavern is a classic old London pub, repurposed as an upscale, two-storeyed tapas joint. You could go three-course if you're an old stickler, but little dishes are the principal bill of fare. They pack quite a punch: a truffle-buttered, panko-crumbed scallop with braised peas and prosciutto has a lot going for it, as does impeccably Spanish roasted salt hake with saffron-almond sauce and beans. Superb meats are treated with respect, as for Ibérico loin with morcilla and a purée of pickled apricots, or beef shin with girolles, smoked anchovies and salsa verde. Pink prosecco jelly with raspberries and meringue ice cream is a light way to conclude.
