Jason Atherton's latest venture is a two-storey operation with a bar and deli at ground level, and the eaterie with open kitchen upstairs. Music pounds out and there's plenty of excited chatter in the air. Modernised British tradition is the name of the game, where British naturally includes a starter of squid ink linguine replete with seafood – razor clams and Morecambe shrimps with marine herbs. Braised short rib for main has been flashed under the grill too, and comes dressed in luscious sticky gravy garnished with snipped spring onions, or fill up on Cornish fish stew with braised fennel. Finish with a bergamot-scented chocolate mousse made with Valrhona.
