Smack opposite Smithfield Market, Top Floor offers rooftop views of the City skyscrapers from its long, light-filled room through full-drop sliding glass doors and dream-ticket fine-weather terrace. The kitchen produces light, modern, refined dishes of flair and flavour. Rare-breed steaks play a starring role (perhaps a 28-day dry-aged Belted Galloway T-bone for two), though fish is also good - sparkling-fresh pan-fried halibut served with roast and puréed cauliflower, toasted almonds, truffle and Lardo di Colonnata. Finish with a play on tiramisù involving almond biscuit, mascarpone, amaretto, coffee and cocoa. White linen, funky dining chairs, semi-circular leather banquettes and unstuffy service are spot on, while wines are a serious bunch.
