Lording it above the global gourmet paradise of Borough market, Roast occupies the ornate Victorian Floral Hall, relocated from the old Covent Garden and, with pigeon's-eye views of the market, St Paul's Cathedral and The Shard, it's a fantastic setting. Waving the flag for superlative British produce, main courses take in rolled and stuffed, slow-roasted pork belly with crackling, silky mashed potato and Bramley apple sauce, or perhaps braised ox cheek with creamed onion and smoked Isle of Wight garlic. For dessert, try baked apple tart with roasted barley ice cream. In true market fashion, it's open for breakfast too.
