It's all happening on the Greenwich Peninsula, which has gradually been transformed into a smart London quarter with its own cultural milieu, and a swish InterContinental Hotel to boot. The Peninsula Restaurant on the second floor has views of the whole district, with Canary Wharf hovering behind it, and amid the sleek contemporary design, a menu of cutting-edge cooking completes the picture. The influences here are from modern and classic European cuisine and this has created a menu reflective of the spice, exotic fruit and fresh fish trade that passed through East London’s docks to be sold at London’s Billingsgate. Highlights of the menu include excellent melt-in-the-mouth and flavoursome Wagyu beef with a silky-smooth celeriac purée and black garlic. The service is very well managed – there's a good team in place offering diligent service with good knowledge and recommendations offered throughout.
