Beside Liverpool Street station, Miyako is within the ANdAZ London hotel, although it has its own entrance where queues form at lunchtime for takeaway boxes. The restaurant itself has a cool, uncluttered look, thanks to large windows, walls veneered in pale wood and bamboo, and black-lacquered tables and chairs. A traditional Japanese menu takes in sushi such as octopus on hand-pressed rice, sashimi, and tempura prawns in thin, crisp batter, while among the specials may be wakame with udon noodles, or miso soup packed with salmon, scallops, sea bass, vegetables and tofu. Finish with yuzu macaroons with green tea ice cream and lemon crumble.
