The city branch of Manicomio occupies a three-tiered, Sir Norman Foster-designed glass building with a buzzy ground-floor terrace and café-bar (open from breakfast) and a sleek first-floor restaurant dressed up with a decor as sober as the suited-and-booted city types at its black leather seats and white-linen-clad tables. Light and fresh contemporary Italian cooking that pays due respect to the provenance, seasonality and quality of its ingredients is the deal here, so start with rabbit tagliatelle with white wine, lemon, sage and capers, followed by line-caught hake with fregola, kohlrabi, tomato, wild fennel and Tropea onions, and finish with thyme and caramel pannacotta.
