With its plain white walls and wooden benches, the stripped-down look and hip musical policy makes Kurobuta a popular, buzzy place. Inspired by Japan's izakaya taverns, the man at the reins of this Japanese fusion operation is Scott Hallsworth, former head chef at Nobu. This impressive culinary CV shows in a lively opener of baby shrimp tempura with kimchee mayo and spicy shiso dressing. Clear, well-paired flavours continue in mains of miso grilled baby chicken with spicy lemon garlic sauce and inventive desserts include a warm chocolate mousse with cherry sorbet, marinated cherries and pistachio macaroon.
