Jago occupies the ground floor of a former factory now housing creatives and IT entrepreneurs, many of whom use this light and informal restaurant as their staff canteen. The chef used to work for Ottolenghi, which explains the vibrant Middle Eastern-meets-Mediterranean cuisine on offer. Sticking rigidly to the seasons, a springtime meal might kick off with incredibly fresh sardines on toast accompanied by a mélange of marinated tomatoes, celery, parsley and lemon juice. A typical main course of rich, slow-cooked veal cheek goulash with orzo pasta and sour cream is big on flavour. It might be followed by a perfectly balanced vanilla pannacotta with poached rhubarb.
