A long pub-like room with an open kitchen at the back, this is a busy, high-decibel place with an easy-going, friendly and completely unpretentious vibe. The twice-daily-changing menu deals in quality produce where seasonality, sourcing and provenance are king. Intelligently simple, unfussy Brit fare with gutsy, big flavours is the kitchen's preference. There's no three-course formality, with dishes laid out in ascending price order, so mix-and-match with small plates - cured, marinated sardines and panzanella, say - and larger dishes like lamb neck fillet with bobby beans, mint and tomatoes, or shin of beef with peas, and finish with buttermilk pudding with stewed apple and salty caramel.
