The move from Chelsea to St James's has given Chutney Mary a new lease of life, not to mention a swanky cocktail bar and some smart private dining rooms. The restaurant has a suitably luxurious sheen with rich, colourful fabrics and designer chairs, but the closely-packed tables remain linen-free. The creative modern Indian cuisine runs to inspiring combinations such as tamarind-glazed duck in a top-drawer salad, or another starter of baked venison samosa. Follow on with kid goat biryani or red snapper tikka and expect well-judged spicing throughout. Finish with citrusy nimbu tart with rhubarb sorbet and verbena jelly. Look out for the global wines and creative cocktails.
