Wines by the glass

Set in an 18th-century thatched building with modern extensions, this hotel restaurant takes an informal view of things with its oak panelling, bare brickwork, unclothed tables and garden views. When it comes to the food, local produce shows up well in capable dishes: a Lincolnshire Scotch egg arrives with crispy pancetta and honey and ale dressing, ahead of roast duck breast with slow-cooked beef and onion hash, chargrilled asparagus, carrot purée and red wine jus, or there could be smoked haddock with chorizo, pea and herb risotto. Finish with an English-cream-tea-themed take on strawberry cheesecake made with a scone base and served with Earl Grey parfait.
