The present red-brick building dates from early Victorian times and is on the site of what was a small inn. Chic table settings with good napery and floral adornments look the part against the neutral hues of the main dining room, where bay windows give wide sea views. The kitchen delivers contemporary cooking that moves with the seasons. Scallops with carrot purée and pumpkin seeds scattered with pork crackling is an enjoyable starter, and might be followed by fillet of beef bourguignon with mashed potato, or mushroom and truffle risotto. Round off a meal with lemon and lime cheesecake with strawberry compôte.
