Seasonal modern pub cooking on the Teme

Keen anglers will appreciate this village pub on the upper Teme, where trout and grayling are abundant. Others will just love the authentic air of a country inn, where old beams and inviting leather sofas play their homely part. Start with goats' cheese and spinach ravioli in truffled cream sauce with crispy leeks, as a possible overture to turbot with garlicky razor clams and chorizo-butter bean cassoulet, local beef fillet with dauphinoise, or a faithful rendering of hearty coq au vin. Pudding might be something sturdily British like a treacle and ginger suet sponge with custard. Light bites such as tomato and mozzarella bruschetta should satisfy the snackers.
