If the sun is shining on Richmond, La Buvette's courtyard tables come into their own, but this place is a winner all year round when it comes to classic bistro dining. It's down a leafy walkway off the main high street, with closely packed tables and a menu of familiar dishes backed up by daily specials. Kick off with a starter of marinated mackerel with beetroot salad and horseradish cream. Main-course roast venison comes with wild mushroom pithivier, parsnip purée and hispi, and there's steak, too, in the form of chargrilled onglet. Dessert delivers old favourites such as apple tarte fine with vanilla ice cream.
