When the owner was deciding on a name he thought he'd call it Turn Up & Enjoy. But Turnip won the day. The compact, simply decorated interior features pale wood furniture, exposed brick, a large clock, mirrors and a small bar. Begin with monkfish cheeks, smoked oyster cream, nero spaghetti and fennel, or Stornoway Black Pudding with duck egg and chorizo crumble. Then how about slow-cooked pork belly, celeriac and vanilla, sticky pork rib purée, baked quince and spinach? Finish with pecan butter parfait, cocoa nib bourbon biscuit, banana and Pedro Ximenez sherry ice cream. Naturally, turnips usually feature somewhere. Please note, the restaurant is only open at lunchtime at the weekends.
