Glasgow's longest-serving restaurant became an octogenarian in 2015, having provisioned the city with fish and shellfish since luxury liner Queen Mary began her life on the Clyde. An often starry clientele returns for platters of fruits de mer, langoustines in garlic butter, and perhaps sea-and-land main courses such as seared scallops and slow-roast pork belly with cauliflower purée in curry oil. Meatier appetites might go for roast venison loin with braised red cabbage in bramble jus. More unusual starters might encompass blue cheese brûlée with beetroot salsa and poached figs, and it all concludes with cardamom-spiced white chocolate tart in cherry brandy syrup.
