With views of the castle and the Forth Bridge, the top floor of Harvey Nic's Edinburgh restaurant serves up the city on a plate. The restaurant is a slick contemporary space with white linen on the tables, burgundy-coloured leather seats and a smart line in seasonal dishes combining contemporary finesse with Scottish ingredients. Aberdeenshire pork and ham rillettes with roast plums, piccalilli and truffle mayonnaise is a creative first course. Next up, red wine-poached halibut is supported by garlic mash, spinach, roast butternut squash and salsify. Finish with a 'Mont Blanc' confection of meringue, Cognac-infused stewed prunes and chestnut purée and ice cream.
