Bistro-style cooking in a contemporary setting

Just off the high street, there's a contemporary sheen to Brodies that really pays off in the evening when it becomes quite a smart dining spot. The bistro-style menu offers some interesting stuff made with high-quality ingredients. Kick off with a rustic tomato tarte Tatin, say, with melting goats' cheese and basil dressing, or a double-baked Lockerbie cheddar soufflé, and move on to a main course of smoked haddock with Parisienne potatoes. Pan-fried rib-eye arrives with chips stacked Jenga-style, plus onion rings, pea purée and mushroom fricassée, while a honey mascarpone pannacotta passes the wobble test. Sunday lunch is a classic affair.
