Smartly linened-up tables are the order in the dining room of this creeper-covered restaurant with rooms. Lemon-yellow and exposed stone walls produce a relaxing atmosphere, and fixed-price menus, built on a core of modern French notions, offer a variety of choices. Start with smoked haddock soufflé on a bed of smoked salmon with coriander cream, or smoked chicken and chorizo salad with spicy apple relish. The main business arrives in the form of pan-fried fillet of veal topped with Parma ham served with mushrooms, pancetta and mustard sauce, or grilled lemon sole fillets with asparagus and lemony herb butter. Conclude with peach and ginger crème brûlée.
