The rustic Rock Inn's pre-Victorian air, provides a welcoming backdrop to the modern European culinary style on show in its candlelit dining room. A crisp-coated duck Scotch egg with chilli jam and salad leaves is a well-executed starter or go for goats' cheese mousse with fig chutney, crostini and salad leaves. At main, there's plenty of satisfaction to be had from a flavoursome pan-fried stone bass with olive-crushed new potatoes, tomato fondue, caramelised fennel and chorizo. Finish with vanilla pannacotta, chocolate and brandy sorbet, plum purée and orange biscotti, or a platter of West Country cheeses and home-made chutney.
