Conservatory dining in the Peak District

Wines by the glass

Refurbished style exudes from every pore of Lee Wood, a Georgian grey-stone manor house in the Peak District. Dining goes on in an expansive conservatory room with fronds of hanging foliage overhead and refreshing views of the grounds all about. The young service team runs the show with admirable efficiency, delivering modern brasserie cooking that scores some hits. A meal might run from roast chicken and wild mushroom terrine with soused vegetables, potato salad and beetroot mayonnaise, to a main course of pork with black pudding purée and sautéed potatoes in cider oil dressing. The assiette of desserts may well be the high point of the show.
