An imposing Victorian family home that spent many years as a convent before being converted into the smart hotel it is now, The Villa Levens occupies a peaceful spot in the South Lakes. The intimate dining room offers plenty of original features including wood panelling and a fireplace, with clothed tables and silver cutlery giving a sense of grandeur. The menu offers variety aplenty and the food is presented without smoke and mirrors. Pan-seared scallops, cauliflower cheese and bacon might lead on to dry-aged fillet steak, red kale, crispy onions, château potatoes and Diane sauce. To finish, there may be dark chocolate fondant with clotted cream ice cream.
