Within 17 acres of grounds on the shore of Lake Windermere, this white Georgian villa provides a quintessential Lakeland country house setting. Overlooking the manicured lawns and glorious scenery, the elegant restaurant makes for a relaxed backdrop to the modern cooking. The kitchen displays a sound skills-set and combinations are tried and tested. A starter of duck liver, port, parsley root and brioche might be followed by a trio of beef – sirloin, sweetbread and short rib – with Savoy cabbage and smoked mash. Desserts are enticing and opulent – assorted textures of dark chocolate are teamed with hazelnut, caramel and praline.
