The stone-built house perching on the clifftops above Smerwick harbour has been owned by the Gorman family since the 18th century. Simplicity is the key to this delightful restaurant with rooms: there's nothing to get in the way of the dining room's sweeping views across the Atlantic, produce is spankingly fresh and the concise menu offers five choices at each stage. Start with locally-smoked organic salmon served with a simple salad and horseradish cream, and follow with a hearty Kerry lamb stew with root vegetables and potatoes, or pan-fried hake fillet with roasted cherry tomatoes, lemon butter and fresh herbs. To finish, try mango parfait with passionfruit and mango syrup.
