This restaurant offers finely-crafted regional food in an unassuming venue between the moorlands of Bodmin and Dart. Start perhaps with a partridge breast on spelt risotto, followed by a bacon-enriched soup of butternut squash garnished with a scallop. Fish comes next, perhaps sea bass in a green array of samphire, spinach and fennel, and then a choice of main meats, fallow deer in red wine with dauphinoise, chanterelles and sprout-flowers, or sirloin in Madeira with grelots and smoked mash. A digestive pause will do nicely before Cornish and West Country cheeses appear, prior to two desserts. A chocolate version of the B52 cocktail shot might precede apple crumble and custard.
