Seagulls wheel about the thriving little village of Marazion, just outside Penzance, in a coastal scene that may strike a chord with followers of Doc Martin. In starters, there's a dual role for cured and crisp-fried beef with watercress, pungent horseradish and a sourdough croûton, or a twice-baked cheese soufflé with soused pear and spiced pecans. Then mains bring on milky-textured cod with crushed root veg, mussels and spinach, or intensely flavoured braised lamb shoulder with frankly stunning pearl barley risotto and crunchy broccoli in salsa verde. Tropical elements add up to an irresistible dessert of coconut pannacotta with dried pineapple, lime-macerated mango, spiced caramel and mint sugar.
