A modern hotel kitted out to host conferences and meetings, Crown Lodge is a useful local resource. The flexible approach to dining means you can go for simple things like fish and chips or a burger, but there's also a more ambitious carte. This offers a starter of roast loin of lamb with sweetbreads and braised Puy lentils, and another that wraps local asparagus in filo pastry and dresses it with lemon and thyme. Move on to whole grilled plaice, or pan-fried kangaroo steak with wasabi-infused mash, and you'll find plenty of choice for dessert with everything from classic crème brûlée to hearty sticky toffee pudding up for grabs.
