Very much a dining pub, the Greene Oak is a charming old place with bright, homely decor and cheerful staff who keep it all ticking along nicely. The kitchen makes good use of local seasonal ingredients, focusing on gently contemporary British- and European-inspired ideas. A starter of salt-cod croquettes arrives in the company of pea purée, mint aïoli and a quail's egg, with main-course pan-roasted sea trout to follow, or a succulent confit pork belly in an earthy combo with trompette mushrooms and grain mustard sauce. End on a tropical note with coconut pannacotta, pineapple carpaccio and spiced pineapple sorbet. Terrace tables fill up fast on warm days.
