Gimmick-free cooking in a village local

With the cricket ground opposite, The Beehive is the epitome of the English village pub. A bar menu, daily-changing lunch and dinner menus, and a specials board reveal season-driven, modern British dishes known for their gimmick-free, 'less is more' simplicity. If a starter of Dorset snails with garlic butter, Gorgonzola and grilled sourdough wouldn't be your choice, you'll easily find an alternative, such as English asparagus with poached egg, monk's beard, parmesan and pea shoots. Follow with calves' liver, cooked pink, with crisp bacon, soft and sweet melted onions and mash. Yorkshire rhubarb trifle topped with vanilla custard, cream, almonds and berries looks especially scrumptious in its glass tumbler.
