The Crab & Boar has had a stylish refurb: walls in the interconnecting rooms are decorated in muted tones, with exposed beams, while bare wooden tables are smartly set and chairs are a mixed bag, all presenting a refined ambience. The kitchen still concentrates on exploiting the freshness and vitality of seafood. Start with seared scallops with cauliflower, vanilla purée and orange and proceed to lemon sole accompanied simply by samphire and tomato beurre blanc. Carnivores are well served too - perhaps pressed ham hock with sweetcorn relish, then pork loin and belly with peach, hispi cabbage and a chorizo potato cake. Finish with passionfruit cheesecake.
