A short drive from Oban, this relaxed restaurant occupies a low-slung building on a 300-year-old working croft. Inside, an almost Nordic sparseness - darkwood floors, bare tables and exposed stone - is the backdrop to the smart menu of old favourites and gently contemporary ideas. Isle of Mull scallops come tempura-style, with caramelised leek purée and soy and lime jelly bringing a balance of salt-and-sour notes. Main course delivers a piggy trio of slow-cooked belly, fillet and a croquette of pulled pork and potato matched with carrot and thyme purée and creamy Calvados sauce. Finish with sticky toffee pudding with brandy-soaked prunes and gingerbread ice cream.
