Next door to the art gallery, Coast is the very image of a modern brasserie, with a seasonally changing menu of vivacious dishes. Start with home-made chicken liver parfait with apple chutney, or enjoy the simplicity of chargrilled local langoustine dressed with garlic butter. Move on to pan-fried fillet of red gurnard (landed at Tarbert) with a mix of veg including salsify and fennel, anchovy fritter and chervil cream sauce, or haunch of Argyll venison with spiced red cabbage, pickled walnuts and a mash fired up with truffle and chives. Finish with apple and honeycomb parfait with toffee ice cream or a ginger sponge pudding with spiced pears.
