A few miles off the main road, Pittodrie House has a wonderfully peaceful position, plus 2,000 acres to call its own. Inside all is rich, warm decor and period detail, including the restaurant with its classical proportions and large oil canvases on the walls. It's a smart, classical setting for gently modern Scottish cuisine. Start with West Coast wild salmon and lobster tortellini with a frothy lobster bisque and spinach dressed with lobster oil. Follow on with loin of Highland venison, the meat pink and tender, and served with celeriac both roasted and puréed, plus chestnuts and silky juniper-flavoured jus. Finish with blackberry parfait or a selection of British cheeses.
