Narrow lanes and footpaths thread Worcestershire's secluded Abberley Hills. Several of these meet outside The Manor Arms, where the promise of satisfying meals and local beers awaits explorers. There's more than a hint of the old world here, with inglenook and rustic furniture creating a restful interior. With a rich larder available from local farms, estates and growers, the chefs have gained two AA Rosettes for the balanced menu of pub grub meals and contemporary cuisine. Engage with roast venison loin with fondant potato, parsnip puree and wild mushrooms; smoked salmon salad; bangers and mash; or sweet potato and turmeric falafels with baba ganoush, feta and a red pepper sauce. If there's room, pear tart tatin with croissant ice cream sounds good. There are six lovely en suite rooms as well.
