Close to the Three Counties Showground, there are spectacular views of the Malvern Hills from the stylish terrace of this 17th-century country inn. Appointed to a high standard with an eclectic mix of smart, contemporary furnishings and rustic chic, the pub has a wood-burner and open fire for the winter. Menus centre around seasonal local produce accompanied by Wye Valley or Malvern Hills ales, plus rotating guests. Typical dishes might be pan-seared Cornish scallops, garden pea purée, black pudding crumb and crisp Parma ham, followed by roast fillet of rose veal, deep-fried macaroni cheese, buttered spinach, glazed parsnips and thyme reduction. An alternative option might be grilled fillet of sea bream, artichoke, chorizo, fine beans, straw potatoes and watercress pesto. If there's still room, choose warm stem ginger rice pudding, rhubarb compôte and vanilla shortbread. There is a good children’s menu.
