Mark and Laura Hodges took over this 16th-century village pub in 2012 and although very much a destination, they have retained the local drinkers by offering real ales from local breweries like Box Steam alongside Ashton Press and Toodle Pip ciders, plus 19 wines by the glass. The kitchen makes good use of the local produce, with free-range meats from a nearby farm and day-boat fish from Lyme Bay and Lyme Regis. Pheasant crispy parcels might precede pork belly with white bean and chorizo cassoulet and creamed leek, Stilton and spinach risotto. Pub quizzes are every other Tuesday.
