The delightful Royal Oak stands tucked away in a glorious village below the Wiltshire Downs, and you can expect a cracking community atmosphere, Arkell’s ales, Westons ciders, roaring log fires and daily-changing menus. Almost 60 per cent of produce comes from Helen Browning's own organic farm, with the rest sourced from three other local organic farms and allotments. A three-course dinner could be pork rillettes, cornichons and dressed leaves; 40-day aged beef fillet with sauce béarnaise, hand-cut chips and salad; and caramelised apple and raspberry upside down cake with star anise custard. The child-friendly garden has a Wendy house and rope swing.
