This ivy-clad, stone built free house (also known as OHH) dates from the early 19th century and is run by the Warburton family. Dad David has been here for years and still happily pulls pints of Maiden Voyage, Wadworth 6X and Thatchers Gold in the low-beamed bar. The finest seasonal ingredients are used to create impressive menu favourites like sausages, mustard mash, spinach and red wine onion gravy; tomato, basil and pine nut risotto; or roast hake fillet, crab mash and cockle vinaigrette. Try white chocolate and honeycomb cheesecake or hot chocolate fondant for afters. The beautifully landscaped gardens feature a waterfall and six high quality bedrooms are available in a stylish annexe.
