Dining pub in an upmarket village

At a glance

Bar menu
Open all year
Dog friendly

The Angel has stood at one end of Heytesbury's High Street for over 400 years; a comprehensive makeover a few years ago resulted in today's comfy mix of traditional and contemporary aspects of a village inn. Exposed brick, wooden flooring, beams and on-trend furnishings are the building blocks that welcome visitors. Diners may choose to eat in the bar or restaurant. A typical menu opener may be devilled lamb’s kidneys on toast, followed by a seasonal dish – wild mushroom and chestnut cottage pie. There's a strong hand of quality burgers here too, including one called ‘mushoumi’ for vegetarians. Booking is essential at weekends.
