The current Earl is the founder of the Festival of Speed and the Goodwood Revival, held on the nearby family estate of the Dukes of Richmond. In the pub in 1803 William Blake wrote the words to Jerusalem; today’s visitors can enjoy much the same memorable South Downs’ views that influenced his verse. The excellent dishes, courtesy of Giles Thompson, former executive chef at London’s Ritz Hotel, depend on local estates and the nearby English Channel. Taking the Earl's Menu, might see you enjoyoing a pan-fried pork fillet, white bean and wild mushroom cassoulet, cavolo nero, rösti and port wine jus. Plenty of bar and lighter meals are offered too.
