This rambling, half-timbered old coaching inn has fronted Henley's picturesque High Street for over 500 years. Behind the property is a secluded, lavender-scented beer-garden, where beers from Hooky or Purity can be enjoyed in the warmer months. The punchy, seasonal menus have gained the award of two AA Rosettes. Typically, expect a starter of braised pig cheek, lobster bisque, apple and bacon followed by halibut, butter bean and chorizo cassoulet; or shoulder of lamb, broccoli, tomato, yellow carrots and creamed potatoes. Chocolate mousse cake and raspberry sorbet to finish.
